the cat typing!

yep the old story of the cat walking across the keyboard.. so after the little monster did ... any time the laptop was turned on a generic repeating windows error box would flick up one after the other until the windows OS simply froze, almost as soon as windows had loaded an opened. at the time no one could decided what the error meant or how to fix it.

so now as we come around to does the laptop go or stay, we have got the HDD out into a external dock and wondering if there is any thing else we could do to clear what has to be a pussy key combination that has freaked out the OS... or is time to just format the HDD and use it as an external or scrap it.. so far sfc and chkdsk are happy... any other ideas?

cat walking over it can only have caused hardware issues, won't be anything wrong with windows... put the drive back in and start by having a close look at the keyboard keys... and if you can get the exact error message (windows doesn't do generic error messages) we could probably have a guess at what key is stuck

hardware would make sense.. like it cant find something and panics.. unfortunately its been in the not working pile long enough the battery is stuffed.. and this seems to be one of them that wont light its fuse with out the battery... and al that boots stuff isn't going to be accessible either.. now.

if you take the battery out it will usually fire up...

for what its worth, we replaced the keyboard very recently so its essentially brand new.. but alas at this stage we cant even start the lap top.. its been sitting turned off for along time.. and we are getting some weird readings off the multimeter on the charger.. and it wont start on battery.. looks like its lots its sparks..so we may never know what is wrong

further recollection from the past... the error would open and just keep on opening until the screen was full of the same error.. so while that would sound like holding down a particularly key.. is it possible for virtually brand new keyboard to do that.. all the keys seem to be springing back fine

If a cats walked over it as you said then yes, but if you can let us know the exact error message when you get it going we will be in a much better position to surmise what's going on, software problems could also be causing it...

How about the cat that accidentally walked on the keyboard and placed the $45,000 bid on a beaten up old Toyota. The District Court said that the cats owner was liable for the cats behaviour and that the deal was thus valid.
