1 | hi there I've been to council and a like for like upgrade is okay for our deck , a friend who's a builder is doing it , just the balustrade railings , what is the code height and width for railings please ? I think it's minimum height of 1m we will do them at 1150 above code I think , does anyone know the width required ? Thanks in advance :) daz1968 - 2021-10-08 13:22:00 |

3 | I would say the 1.2m rule applies as it is for pools - 1.2m from top of deck to top of handrail. Handrail is ex 150x50 on edge, balustrades are ex 50x50 with the maximum gap of 100mm from memory catwoman1974 - 2021-10-09 00:27:00 |
4 | Handrail needs to be no less than 1000mm from deck. Balusters are readily available pre-made at 40x40 (I think) x 1200mm long stevo2 - 2021-10-09 06:12:00 |

6 | Thanks that makes sense , will make the bottom of rails to top of balustrade 1150 so well above code , still think the timber that runs across the bottom isn't great as a child's feet could use that as a climbing spot , but all decks seem to have it daz1968 - 2021-10-16 09:11:00 |
