| Hoping someone knows what this is called and/or what it is used for (maybe Bitsy Boffin)! It is meant to be hole panel mounted with a nut at the back and has a large flat recessed contact in the middle and two smaller contacts below with LED between. Thanks for any help. shuttleman - 2021-10-05 13:20:00 |

| It's a power charger socket, I'd venture the metal pole in the middle is a magnet to hold the device while charging. I'd suspect it's meant to be top mounted rather than panel mounted to secure the device better. The two smaller metal poles will be for the power. If you haven't got a matching device that fits then it might be useless, where did you get it? gyrogearloose - 2021-10-05 14:10:00 |
| This isn't quite the same but has the same concept: https://www.rosenberger.com/product/ropd/ The link suggest applications like drones and light electric vehicles. And I retract my top mounting suggestion, this web page says it's good for devices that might be pulled away to disconnect, such as just driving off, or a drone or robot that might mate for power and then leave, say a roomba. 5 | I have acquired a bag full of these, hard to list when you don't know what to call them! The centre contact is not magnetic and there is no lip on the recess to hold anything in place. The contacts go straight through to the solder tags on the back. Cheers. shuttleman - 2021-10-05 14:39:00 |
| Thanks for your replies, just checked the LED and it glows red in one direction and green in the other. Cheers. shuttleman - 2021-10-05 15:09:00 |
| Perhaps the center contact is an electromagnet, so it sticks as soon as the power connection is made (avoids metal filings sticking forever). If you had the matching connector (and mounting nut) they would be more valuable, but google search didn't show an exact match. gyrogearloose - 2021-10-05 15:20:00 |
