Help making lint bags please

| This is a "fruity" vege bag from the supermarket. I'm thinking of converting them into lint bags for the washing machine because I can't find any good quality lint bags with small enough holes in the mesh and zips that last more than a few washes. Not sure what sort of closure is best but the commercial ones have a zip in them. I'd actually prefer to buy good quality lint bags rather than make them but haven't been able to find any. Any suggestions? https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1579895946.jpg arthurdent - 2021-07-25 14:06:00 |
| Would buying a small plastic toggle and attaching it to the strings to keep the bag closed work well enough. maddie44 - 2021-07-25 14:13:00 |
| Um..... what's a lint bag for exactly? I feel like a moron asking this at the age of 50, clearly not doing the washing correctly....... 2bit - 2021-07-25 15:32:00 |

I don't even know what the correct name for these bags is -all I know is that when I put things like black socks in the washing together with things like white towels then the socks come out covered with lint. There are mesh bags you can buy to put the black socks in but the cheapo bags come apart after a couple of washes and I can't find any high quality bags so far. These green vege bags are very strong and perfect for the job except for the fastener on them. Edited by arthurdent at 3:44 pm, Sun 25 Jul arthurdent - 2021-07-25 15:43:00 |

| Farmers. Lingerie bags. Mine last rather well, ready made, different sizes, and zipped... oh_hunnihunni - 2021-07-25 17:52:00 |

Oh right. I guess I just prevent that by washing darks with darks and lights with lights. Good to know, though. A vege bag arrangement might be handy! 2bit - 2021-07-25 19:46:00 |
| There are some tight mesh lingerie bags I've seen and bought from the supermarket. But the set I bought from M Ape for smalls, are good too, set of three with a little tag at the top showing, socks, bras, knickers, so You know what you are supposed to put in them, also colour coded. voyager4 - 2021-07-27 09:48:00 |
| I think they are called 'delicates' bags' - and that's what I call mine. yapper - 2021-07-27 17:01:00 |

| zirconium wrote: Thanks zirconium. $12.00 each seems reasonable for bags as good as you describe but Bendon charges $9.00 for NZ delivery! That sticks in my craw I have to say but if I can't find anything as good elsewhere I'll just have to suck it up I guess! arthurdent - 2021-07-29 13:00:00 |

| I never wash clothes with towels so no problem with lint - my lingerie bags from Bendon are at least 10 years old and still going strong. The mesh has bigger holes than OPs fruit bag though so the water can pass through and still wash what’s inside. If the Bendon ones linked above are the same as mine they’re roughly A4 size Edited by sarahb5 at 9:02 pm, Thu 29 Jul sarahb5 - 2021-07-29 20:57:00 |
| I bought two sets off trade me around Christmas time last year, there were about 5 in a set, all different sizes and shapes, gave one set as a present. They were very reasonably priced and well made too, I am very happy with them. pig-gal - 2021-07-29 22:43:00 |
| voyager4 wrote: Wow...I bought these online yesterday from. M.Ape and they were delivered this morning. They are exactly what I was looking for -very fine mesh and good strong zips. Thanks so much, voyager4! arthurdent - 2021-07-30 11:34:00 |
| my daughter got hers from cotten on. It does not have holes. Made out of a cotten material with a zip. Works great slimgym - 2021-08-19 03:40:00 |
| Mine are not cotton but they work well. One from Kirkcaldies in Welly, sob, no longer there. I reckon department stores would sell them too - how many are left? Ballantynes and Smith and Caughey. yapper - 2021-08-21 16:55:00 |

| Why not use old net curtains for this?tie the tops with string or an elastic. Why do we seem to need new aids we never had before? lilyfield - 2021-09-03 15:43:00 |
| Silly me. I thought a lint bag was the one deep in the washing machine that I keep forgetting to clean!!!! -nana- - 2021-09-04 08:30:00 |
