Auckland water care are thanking us

#Post

For saving the water usage by increasing the rates because of less water used .another feature is if we collect water for the toilet etc there’s a $757 annual charge, but I noticed that because we are connected to town supply we agreed to the terms and conditions, as if we have a choice

It's a crock of sh!t. All during the big 'drought', Watercare had the highest paid member of council at over $700,000 per annum salary - they can't build more infrastructure for the aging dams or increased population, but can afford to pay someone such a massive salary (with benefits and pay increases). So Aucklanders had massive restrictions, have had no infrastructure upgrades and yet have a rate hike.. All while our population continues to increase.

The really stupid thing is both the Auckland potable water and stormwater systems are overloaded and need billions spent on upgrades. Roughly half the water we use goes to flushing toilets, something that could be done with rainwater to reduce wastage of drinking water and utilise what goes down the SW drain.
This was allowed under the old Waitakere council but lost when the super-city took over.
