solution to housing crisis?

1 | I posted some video of 3d printed houses awhile back. Since then more countries have more houses being built this way. Found out today that we have a company already here in NZ ready to go. https://qorox.co.nz/. At this stage looks as though cost will be close to same as conventional but the speed with which the houses can be made will make the difference and as more are made the cost will become cheaper. 40% less CO²-emissions Integrating recycled materials in them mortar 70% less waste 75% faster than traditional methods. I see Australia are also looking at this. mkr_ahearn - 2021-06-14 12:47:00 |
2 | If all the bedrooms were full there wouldn't be a housing crisis. There needs to be more sharing going on as used to be the case, however with everyone being potentially dodgy these days there are risks in having others living with you. It's not a new problem having had people living with me in a spare room 3 time over 30 years prior getting married 11 years ago. All three cost me money (which I didn't have) and giving they were living rent free it was an unfair debt. One was there about 8 to12 months, the other 2 several years. However, there must be good people out there that could work on home sharing fairly, or is that not possible in this day and age. bryalea - 2021-06-14 12:57:00 |

6 | When lots go to Aussie for better money and cheaper housing then the problem will go away. But and it is a big one, the government in power now will bring more refugees or the like to fill them up again. Never mind. That's the future. msigg - 2021-06-14 16:23:00 |

yes.. house sharing is an excellent idea.. full up all those empty bedrooms... but of course the spare rooms / bedrooms in my house would not suitable !!.. and in fact the whole neighbourhood would not really be suitable for "boarder / renter type" people. onl_148 - 2021-06-14 16:35:00 |

check out you tube. They all have different methods and mixes based on the type of conditions in the environment, hurricanes, earthquakes, heat, cold etc. Some I have seen have steel rods placed in by hand others don't use steel the computer builds an inner reinforcing pattern as it goes. They are now doing two storey houses. mkr_ahearn - 2021-06-14 17:02:00 |
9 | So unless you want to live in a cave like Fred Flintstone, I assume you need some form of internal wooden framing to affix gib to. I would have thought that would negate some of the cost savings. I like the idea of cheap housing, I just don't see this as the solution. sparkychap - 2021-06-14 20:47:00 |
10 | The walls can be left as they are printed or painted or framed and wallpapered mkr_ahearn - 2021-06-14 21:00:00 |
11 | Wow that's ugly. masturbidder - 2021-06-14 21:42:00 |
12 | Add perlite to the construction material and you have your insulation. How much mould would grow in those hollows? You could always plaster over it to make it smooth,(inside & out) later. blueviking - 2021-06-15 06:59:00 |
