Boarder (or flatmate) question

| 1 | Where is the best place to look for a board or flatmate situation if you are 57 years old? An aquaintance of mine is in this situation at the moment - couldn't afford to rent by himself so was boarding for a short time, but the property is now being sold. I have been searching on his behalf but most of the flatmate situations are suggesting ideal flatmate 20 and 30 year olds and he would feel a bit out of place. | 4 | Ask on Neighbourly? I am aware of older people flatting as opposed to boarding. Is there a specific reason he wants board rather than living with a group of people? Yes my thoughts too. Set it up so bonds are paid and lodged and with a tenants agreement from the Tenancy Tribunal website. Each one buys/cooks their own way. Also does their own thing as far as entertainment. Can add the electricity etc up and average out over a week or charge as it comes due. Comes back to flatmate selection. I'm an older person I have had flatmates for years. You get bad ones but very rarely in my case. | 9 | Just saw a couple of ads in North shore times, has he looked there? I guess it's be around the shore, but whatever local paper they have in onehunga, will have those. One says rooms to rent, complete reno, grey lynn and mt eden, looking for mature, responsible and working tenants. | 11 | We have put adverts in Onehunga Community, on facebook, neighbourly and cards in the local supermarket info boards, also asking around. Has to be Onehunga area as he is the local postie with his e-bike.Most of the flatmate adverts are asking for younger age group for a good fit in the existing flat dynamics and 57 is not considered the best fit for either party, Thanks for all the suggestions. pauline999 - 2021-06-12 09:21:00 |
