1 | I use a Mac at work which I can take home for some personal use, but my personal laptop at home is dying and I need a new one to run just one piece of software (which can't run on a Mac). The requirements are: I don't want to spend a fortune. Any recommendations? mimi1 - 2021-05-16 14:09:00 |
2 | ANY new laptop should more than cover those requirements. What you've stated are very basic specs. nice_lady - 2021-05-16 14:14:00 |

4 | What you should do is find a machine you'd like online then post a link here for us to give some advice. Because there's certainly are machines you could buy which would be below the specs you mentioned. What I initially meant was that any halfway decent laptop would fullfill those requirements. 5 | "Pentium class computer" that is quite a crap description - the original Pentium probably could not get to 8Gig ram. Most probably means an i series intel wich would still be vague considering with up to like 10th or 11th Gen (i lose track). The giveaway is the ram though - 8Gig ram as a standard amount would be a like an old DDR3 unit so about 3rd to 5th Gen intel - these would be cheap... around $200-$300 at a guess. acura - 2021-05-16 19:58:00 |
6 | This, I think, is a good deal if you don't mind a 12.5" laptop... https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/computers/laptops/la It far surpasses your requirements. muppet_slayer - 2021-05-16 20:11:00 |
