Re: Multifunction printer - print, scan and fax

#Post

Can someone recommend a reliable and easy to connect and use MFP please for home use. Only to print a few documents now and then and scan documents. Looking for something that can be set up easily and can use cartridges bought off Trade Me which are a lot cheaper than the original.
I've put in new cartridges in my current printer HP inkjet 2600 series but it keeps chopping off the bottom of words when printing. Also there is no proper gap between two lines. I did the head cleaning twice from tools and already the ink level has dropped dramatically and I'm yet to print my document. It is so frustrating. Can someone help pls. Cheers

If you're just printing black and white docs get a laser printer. Much cheaper to run.

Oh really? I got 1500 pages per cartridge for a cost of $9 a cartridge, new, for years.

HP /Canon / Brother are generally pretty good with good back up most days.
Lexmark / Koyocera are often problematic & their "end of Life" is pretty well defined.

Theres a few reliable Traders on TM for Toner cartridges & my fav is "Tonerink"

I've got a Brother MFC-J480DW which works well on wifi and does an excellent job of printing and scanning. It has Fax if you can find someone who has Fax. It works well with cartridges from a TM supplier. I'm sure it's superseded now, but you'll find something similar. Brother drivers take up a lot of space - 400 Megs for mine.

Pity I finally got rid of my laser printer last week - it still went well. Certainly I'd go that way if you only want B&W.
