It's Easter and it's construction as usual at the five story ugly going up next to us. Thank you greedy persons.

They're allowed to work, just can't be noisy. Call noise control.

Very noisy power tools and yes the rules state they can perform non noisy work, noise control have proven soft in this area. Apparently all a repeat offender gets is a $500 fine. Probably best explains why they're over there on Easter. A shame people can't be more considerate.

That sound you hear is called productivity the price you pay for progress. Where I live there is a small subdivision which had two new homes with chippies working and a contractor down the road working on a residential fence on good Friday I applaud them.

Don't we need more homes.... hardly being greedy, they're providing homes. Isn't that what our nation needs?

Agreed - they should be allowed to work 24 hours a day to get the job done sooner, regardless of the inconvenience and disturbance of the the nimby neighbours.

They are not allowed to work on Good friday and Sunday, check the resource consent if you want to. We need less people not more homes. stop immigration now. each to their own.

Interesting, I could only find that on Sundays and Bank Holidays "No noisy construction work was allowed". So that suggests that as long as its not aloud, its allowed.

Cheap imported labour isn't unionised.

No noisy work on Sunday or public holidays in residential areas.
A neighbour was building his house, and worked on Boxing Day, which took the pee, as it was his business building the house, and stuffed if I could get through to complain about it. Glad that is finished, now for the gazillion units going up in the neighbourhood,

Oh so correct. As an added bonus - more employment opportunities and a great opportunity to create a culture of teamwork. Just consider the advantages - 3 x 8hr shifts.

A bit like closing the paddock gate after the horse has bolted. The Immigrants have been here for sometime - they are now in the production phase of further kiwi citizens.

All around here the chippies have been at work on all the houses being built - which there are many in the Papatoetoe area - must be on contract and obviously not religious and the stat day rules don't apply - sign of the times - its all about the money

Too true and look at all the inconsiderate ones in here. I bet there's be a different response if it was power tools blazing next to their homes at inconsiderate times.

Why not???
If its not their religion then why should they comply??
And if someone was to enforce it, that could be seen as discrimination against their own religion.

Can you quote the labour laws that prevent a builder working on Easter Sunday please?

My response is after having lived next door to farmland that turned into a 48 section subdivision that took 9 months of very loud earthworths and services installations and roading etc etc. No weekday was without noise and dust and vibrations. Powertools are like the patter of gentle rain compared to compacting hectares of land. But I knew my property would be worth more by being next to the subdivision so I sucked it up and waited. It certainly was worth the wait......

It was good farmland ruined ;-( Your house would've been worth more anyway.

Agreed (sans the swearing). Even some SJWs, i.e. within the Greens are saying this.

I would start with a few whingers on here, then most of the greenies, everyone connected with Auckland council, and half the Labour party. After that we could clean up the boy racers, economists, cyclists, and whoever thought it was a good idea to change names to Maori.
Any more?

No, lets go alphabetically down a list of names starting with Alan.

Would people who are quick to condemn others be high on the list?

Yes but if we cull off all the whingers, who will inherit all their rentals?

Agree with you on that 1.

Should be taking a leaf out of that legend Scott Morrison's book and sending all the criminals back to where they originally came from.

All the people who choose not to work for a living can "fuck off" too.
