Polar fleece question

#Post
1

I am wanting to make a polar fleece dressing gown. The dressing gown I have been using for the past few years, which I bought, is still lovely and soft after many years. I want to make sure that the polar fleece I buy is going to stay soft and not go into balls, so I'm not sure which polar fleece I should be looking to buy. When I look online there seem to be all sorts of grades and descriptions. I will probably buy from Lincraft, or maybe Spotlight. Any help would be most appreciated :)

I have a $20 polar fleece dressing gown from the Warehouse. Its so cosy and I couldnt have bought the thick fabric that it is made from, for that price.

Yes I have seen those and they look so cosy, but they don't seem to be making full length dressing gowns anymore which is what I want, that is the only reason I have decided to make one :)

Try looking for floor length nightgowns - no one has them anymore. Needed in winter, though!

Make sure the polar fleece says anti-pill. Spotlight do sell this type of fleece. I have had no problems with their anti-pill. It may also be known as artic fleece or similar. They will know what you are talking about.

Yes, why are the 'long' nighties so short? Really annoying.

Why are 'long' winter dressing gowns so short? Also annoying.
Hard to find buttoned down the front ones too which I prefer.

You can always add a panel to the skirt to make it long enough to keep the ankles warm...

I used to have long flanellete nighties...but I'd be getting out of bed several times a night to untwist them!! Now I sleep with only tops and have extra warmth from my fleece dressing gown which I spread over the lower half of my bed. It is also only a mid calf version but putting on trackie pants as I get up takes care of that.

I wear homemade full length voluminous nighties. slinky knit fabric from Ikes, simplest design I could dream up. Cool in summer, warm in winter and tangle free. Mind you, I have trained myself not to shift around much in my sleep because the pain in doing so wakes me up, so the bed and nighties stay tidily arranged.

Most of the time!
