| I am being told the protection offered by Windows 10 is now sufficient. aloha3 - 2021-02-15 12:39:00 |
| I have also heard that the built in one is good enough. The computer will likely be faster without an 3rd party anti virus too. I asked the computer tech at work and he reckoned the W10 was sufficient. tygertung - 2021-02-15 13:45:00 |
| if it was any other than Eset I would say get rid of it and just use with Windows defender, it is pretty good these days. Eset is still worth the extra dollars though in my opinion as it is nice and light compared to defender, and it does have extra features Win Defender doesn't. This might help... king1 - 2021-02-15 15:33:00 |
| I used to think windows 10 built in protection was "good enough" but lately I've seen firsthand infections, and the internet reports tens of thousands of infected windows 10 computers out in the world being part of bot nets, etc. So no, I don't think its as good as it should be and 3rd party protection is a good idea. bitsnpieces2020 - 2021-02-17 09:00:00 |
| that's interesting, it is still ranking up there with the others can you post a link to the "windows 10 computers out in the world being part of bot nets" king1 - 2021-02-17 09:13:00 |
| "tens of thousands" is A TINY number on a World wide basis. nice_lady - 2021-02-17 09:37:00 |

| bitsnpieces2020 wrote: It also does not say Windows Defender caused this by not being "good enough"... To be fair Windows Defender was crap and should not be relied upon prior to Win 10, and it is well known that many users still use old versions of windows, especially overseas... My money's on the majority of the botnets being Win 7 and earlier, they were always getting infected, especially when no decent AV is present.
