except I have managed to print a test page. I am not very savvy with computers but my lap top and HP Envy printer do not wish to communicate. It is designed to use wirelessly but I have it connected. I have important e mails I need to print.

Did you print the test page by using functions on the printer only or they the computer?

Is the laptop windows or?

Well, you ARE fabulous at helping people with plants, so there you go! Have you tried printing a picture or a document? - Have you had it printing before from this laptop?

Also, how are you trying to print your emails? (what program, and is there a "Print" button, etc?

I think the test page printed when I was fiddling with buttons on the printer. I have tried printing documents using the print icon on the page I wish to print and by using Ctrl P . Printer does not even make a noise.

You need to make sure you are connected to the printer either wirelessly or by cable.
There is an envy app you can install on your laptop or you can connect via a usb cable directly to the printer which is usually fool proof.

Go to PB Tech in Tauranga and buy a USB cable to connect to the printer. It'll cost you about $10 and bypasses the wireless.

First try wired. Make sure you have installed the right driver. If wired works, try again with wifi....ditto driver.
