1 | Just after an idea of what its going to cost other than a lot!!! heather902 - 2021-01-26 16:44:00 |
2 | Well I've just had a one-storey house done, which needed a little bit of scaffolding for one small high part. Around $13,000 all up. Part boards, part plaster. kitty179 - 2021-01-26 19:01:00 |
3 | That’s going to be the problem with people buying these 2 or 3 level houses. rodeorunch - 2021-01-26 22:04:00 |
4 | First quote $46,000 for the painting, PLUS scaffolding costs. heather902 - 2021-02-01 19:00:00 |

Yikes! Is that a full sand down and re-paint? Hopefully includes all window frames too.....? Edited by cameron-albany at 8:43 pm, Mon 1 Feb cameron-albany - 2021-02-01 20:41:00 |
7 | There is one smaller face that will require some stripping off. The other faces are a basic recoat, no window joinery, just surrounds on aluminium joinery. There is some deck railing and soffits to a covered deck and a double garage door. I don't think it is completely outrageous. but could be more than we need to pay. heather902 - 2021-02-01 20:53:00 |

Yeah, I’d be getting two more quotes. thumbs647 - 2021-02-02 06:53:00 |
9 | got a quote last year for spouting and downpipes on a 2 storey house on a sloping section 2 sides only as no spouting on 2 sides scaffolding was to cost catbrat - 2021-03-04 09:30:00 |
10 | We had a quote for $18000+ for a 2.5 bedroom house (1 storey). Ended up getting together a group of family/friends and painted it ourselves. Also borrowed a single stand scaffolding which we kept shifting as we finished each section. Over 2 weekends. It probably cost us less than $1000 in tools and equip. It's an older house that might be sold or renovated in 5 years, but if you have a nice house, you might want to go professional. mone - 2021-03-04 13:26:00 |
11 | a few years ago - 2 story pretty large house. not including window frames as windows being replaced. needed sanding back a lot of it, as last paint job was poor condition. 2 quotes. both similar in the range of $35-$40K PLUS about up to $20K in scaffolding costs - Scaff hire is really expensive and then you get the weekly charges too. So we purchased out own mobile scaff tower for $500 and spent 3 summers working our arses off to do it ourselves. sanding back (3 layers of sanding, 2 rough and one smooth) 1 undercoat, 2 top coat. Was alot of work but at least we know its been done properly and we saved about $50K. Edited by kirrasm57 at 2:53 pm, Fri 5 Mar kirrasm57 - 2021-03-05 14:51:00 |

The last two quotes we got were fairly similar, we went with the slightly more expensive one at $30K including gst. this painter sounded to be more thorough with re priming. And scaffolding all up $7K if we can get it down within 3 weeks (a good price imo) ... will be weather dependent. but they are working with us and will take advantage of good weather over the weekend. 13 | there is alot of time involved in errecting scaffold and dismantling. so its not cheap to errect. Owning a 2 storey house comes with some huge costs. jkp58 - 2021-03-06 08:19:00 |
14 | well it will be worth it in the end, its looking really good. heather902 - 2021-03-06 16:24:00 |
15 | We had our plaster two storey home repainted recently. The painted parts are predominantly on the upper storey. They did not use scaffolding, just some elevated work platforms and support boards to walk on the roof to paint some parts. They did an excellent job. Used Resene paints - two coats. 16 | Also we didn't get the soffits painted this time as they were still perfect condition. Colour match was perfect. To do soffits would have been another grand but as we were selling we didn't bother. rovercitroen - 2021-03-07 21:17:00 |

Use the roller. Do the window ceils while you are at it. I am not a painter but you'll become one if you want to save money. Total cost with scissor lift hire, paint, brushes, etc-under $1000 Edited by evoalg at 4:19 pm, Mon 29 Mar evoalg - 2021-03-29 16:14:00 |
18 | We did our place around 3 yrs ago. Just the 2 of us, started boxing day and continued until it was complete. Took a total of 2 weeks for the whole 4 bed house. We stripped it all off with heat guns back to bare rimu and then 3 top coats. Total cost was approx $800 including box corners and scribers. Would I do it again, the answer would be Yes. looks amazing compared to how it was when we purchased it. Before: After: gazvic - 2021-03-29 20:38:00 |
