So my graphics card shit itself and on it's way out it took out the sound (6 channel built into the motherboard) Computer still runs fine, just no more sound. So can I just buy a cheap plug in sound card and be done with it? I will add that when it was working I would get a static sound coming through whenever I turned up the music. My sound system is fine and the speakers are brand new, so not sure if that has anything to do with my little issue.

Thanks for that....I might just end up buying yet another computer (off trademe) because I think it's a safe bet to say that the motherboard might not have much life left in her. Thank baby jebus for backup computers or I'd be...well you know.
