Memory not an issue unless you want to download audiobooks too. (Which I think the current gen have that capability.) I was given a current gen Kindle as a gift and it is fantastic. I had one from a few years earlier- aside from this one being waterproof, the only difference was the resolution. I didn't think I'd notice a difference with eBooks but I did. Kindle Paperwhite.

My wife has the Paperwhite and really enjoys it. The latest model (IV ?) is waterproof and also has a backlight so can be used in the dark.

I find reading on the phone works for me as reading inverse (white text on a black screen) on an OLED screen doesn't cause me any eye strain.

Just note that if you get ebooks from a library they are usually only in epub format so you would need to use Calibre (or other software) to convert to MOBI format if you want to read them on a kindle.
