I get Notification(text) Ringtones but no text

#Post
1

I bought a new mobile phone, Samsung A11, so I could use the Covid Tracer App. Now I regularly, like once every couple of days, get a notification ringtone but there is no text there. I never used to get this on the old Samsung. Can anyone tell me what is happening please. I do not have a mobile plan - I use prepay - and my home WiFi is not turned onto the phone and neither is mobile data. I have been all over the NET trying to find an answer and changed some settings but still it happens. I thought it must be because the phone sits on the kitchen bench beside my wallet which has credit cards in it but I moved it well away and still get the notification ringtones.

Look in the top bar of the phone it'll have the notification details there. That's why it's called the 'notification area'. Pull it down with your finger it'll tell you something.

Oh, and your phone will not be in any way 'aware' of your cards in your wallet.

Thanks for your reply. I got distracted with unexpected visitors but am back looking at my phone now.
Everything that comes up when I do that has the blue slide/button turned on. Can I safely turn most of these off without chancing losing getting texts from people I expect to and the Covid App? However I still don't understand why if some of these apps send me a notification why don't I see what it is or where it has come from.
Oh and I only shifted the phone away from my wallet and credit cards because I read an article on Google which suggested the card might be trying to access the Pay wave function on the phone - yeah I thought it seemed far fetche dbut anything is worth a try!

Nah if phones did that then phone wallet cases which hold cards and phones wouldn't be too popular eh?

When you get a notification that's when you pull the top bar down and that'll show you the notification and you will see what is doing it.

Failing that get a teenager to take a look.

Yes, the teenager suggestion might be the best. So annoying though when you upgrade your phone and then seem to actually go backwards.

Go settings, accessibility, notification reminder, open it and turn off.

I'm still having the same problem as OP, even after advice on here I can't seem to fix it and my notification reminders are turned off. I have resorted to turning the volume right down on everything at night as I was being intermittently woken at 4am, not fun. that was my solution as I don't know any handy teenagers. Last night it went off at 9pm. Funny it seems to have happened after installing the covid app. I wouldn't take the app off though, I use it everywhere and feel safer.

Try settings, storage, ''cached data'', click on it and wait for it to clear then restart phone.

If its going off at certain hours on the hour check alarm and calendar also.

Thank you, I've just done it, something seemed to happen so I'll leave the volume on tonight :) It's bad enough getting woken at 4am, but the blasted dog thinks it's breakfast time and gets all excited lol

Thanks, but I checked those first and they're all off, it's not always the same time, just random. hopefully the clearing thing has helped, appreciate the advice ta.

It will be simple fix but have never owned a Samsung and their known to mess with android and do their own thing with certain things, just a matter of trial and error as fishing in the dark at moment.

It's a matter off checking what the notification IS.
All notifications have visual info as well as sound.

Yes it can if NFC is on and react to certain cards.

Maybe this is the Op's issue and it's easy to fix - turn off NFC. Personally it's never happened to me.

The Op did say:

So likely this is not the issue anyway.
OP if you start your phone in 'Safe mode', (Google how - it's easy), that'll eliminate the possibility that it's an app.
