The local Camera Shop has changed hands and no longer give this service.
I Found an old video that has family, and my old pets from years gone by.on it
If someone can suggest where it can be done Id really appreciate it.

I would suggest that you google 'transferring video to dvd' and you will find plenty. I am doing the same thing in Welly.

I just did it. But you need to put New Zealand in the line. 'VHS to DVD - then your town and New Zealand' I got all sorts of outfits in America!

Innovations used to sell a device so you could do it yourself. It was far cheaper than having someone else do it for you.

There's this place called TradeMe where, if you type the words of your question into the browse box, you'd find:

(a) the pieces you would need to do this at home, especially if you still have your video tape player, such as but not limited to 2793705606

(b) conversion services, where you could post the tape, pay some money, and get back a disc.

There should be plenty of video recorder places in your neck of the woods. In Cambridge I had old vhs and 35mm film put on dvds. Good luck.

i have a video - dvd recorder here but you would need to post it to ashburton. probably not practical because im sure you will find someone closer to home but it is an option if you get stuck

This question comes up so frequently on trademe, that it may be worth setting up an enterprise to carry out this function at a reduced price. If someone was doing it at home, there would be no overheads after buying the equipment, so they would be able to offer the service at a reduced price.

I have a computer program that can do this. If you wish to contact me I shall see if the program is still working and if the video player is still working. It was a year ago. You can contact me on j.main@hotmail.co.nz.
