I have a FlightRadar24 receiver, I can see (visual) aircraft, see the data coming through my receiver and see the updated info on FlightRadar, normally within a second or so, no delay. Difference between FlightAware and FlightRadar is that FlightAware estimates a few data inputs along with the flight plan and indicates the route.
