1 | recipe, there use to be a bakery on Stanmore Road in Christchurch way back in the 80s that sold the best chocolate slice I've ever had, they use to sell.out real quick, was really thick and moist but firm, had green like nuts in it, with a real distintive nice taste that I believe made the slice, it was soooooo good so tasty.. kymbah1 - 2020-02-12 11:31:00 |
2 | Try the Best Foods Mayo Chocolate Cake. Its rich, dense and moist. Its my absolute favourite. https://www.bestfoods.co.nz/recipes/best-chocolate-devil-s-c molly37 - 2020-02-12 14:19:00 |
3 | The nuts will have been pistachio. Try looking for pistachio chocolate slice. As a matter of interest, was the slice cooked or was it a 'press into the tin, chill and slice' type slice? buzzy110 - 2020-02-12 16:04:00 |

7 | It sounds like one of those slices that bakeries used to make to use up stale biscuits and cakes. They'd crumbled it all up, add some nuts, melted chocolate, cocoa, or whatever and mix altogether with sweetened condensed milk, chill and slice. If I remember correctly, that particular slice was sold under the name of "Fudge Slice". Your bakery sounds like they had taken it one step further and made something original and delicious from the basic recipe. buzzy110 - 2020-02-12 17:57:00 |
