I'm detailing a family from Featherston. John Till and Amelia McGhie had six children, one boy and five girls. I have all their birth dates, painfully discovered on nzbdm and the marriages and deaths of two of them, John. and Marjorie.

However the other four daughters have mysteriously disappeared at the end of their lives. I have searched all the cemetery's I know of in the Wellington area though I'm no expert in that part of the country. I have searched the nzbdm deaths and the burial locator. They were spinsters working in Wellington. What have I missed?

They are
Violet Ella Till born 1899 in Featherston
Alice Francis Till born 1896 in Wellington
Gladys Myrtle Till born 1901 in Featherston (somebody says died 1984? maybe a late marriage to a Kelly)
Dorothy Ivy Till born 1906 in Featherston.

If you look on Billion Graves - You will see a grave for Violet Ella Till. I didn't look for the others.

If Gladys was born 23/7/1901, should be the KELLY who died in 1984.
Dorothy Ivy married Eric James GALYER in 1931, but her death not found. She is in Wairarapa Electoral Roll until 1972. As Eric died in 1968, she possibly re-married to WAHLBERG = D.I. 20/3/1906 - 1991?
If they were cremated and ashes returned to the families, very little hope of tracing a memorial.
Violet and Alice might be traced through newspaper records but at a library with those old papers - 1990 & 1961.

Could you please let me know how you found that out. NZBDM has Dorothy Ivy Wahlberg's birth date as you say but she was born 20/3/1906. Where or whom did they get that date from? I thought they looked back through their own records for that date, it could be a transcription error I suppose.

I found all the others, I hadn't ever used billion graves before, thats cool.

Death registration has her d.o.b, which would probably have come from the informant so not always reliable, but the birth registration for D.I. TILL shows 20/3/1906 too.
However, you would need to check marriage records, perhaps 1968-78, to be certain that Dorothy married Wahlberg, or her probate at National Archives. If so, death certificate should show burial details.

Till family used to be in Brooklyn years ago, weren't they butchers? I think they were on our Deeds of our home up there, down Ohiro Road.. I am now in Wairarapa. old name from Lower Hutt? I have not noticed any headstone or grave for Till at Featherston have the plan and names somewhere here.

They are mentioned at the Featherston cemetery but that search facility seems to be closed down for the time being.

I've just got a shock, moving onto another family I was ferreting around for information cause they moved alot and found that they'd moved to Napier just before the earthquake happened. The wife and two boys were killed. I know it was a long time ago and all that, but still. I like it when I find they died at 97 or so.
