Birth certificate question

| 1 | I have a birth certificate from 1923 (someone else got it) - but I cannot find the record for it when I search online through Ancestry..... any ideas? Also is it possible to look at the 1926 census anywhere? Where would a young lady in those times have given birth to an illegitimate child - in a hospital or at home?
