sailor13, Delmaine have them in a jar:- https://www.delmaine.co.nz/products/delmaine-green-peppercor
ns-1
and if I was wanting to buy them, my first place to look would be a New World supermarket, then any pantry / deli type shop, and possibly even Bin Inn.

I'm not sure if they would be suitable but Countdown do have dried green peppercorns (Mrs Rogers brand), $3.00 for 15g.

Hope that helps. :-))

Try Gourmet Traders at Gate Pa shopping centre - I've bought tins of them (and pink ones) there in the past.

They're very useful in sauces, and I have a hot strawberry one (in both senses of "hot" - I recreated a dish I'd eaten at what was the THC Queenstown hotel) that's divine...

I purchased some by mistake and don't know what to do with them
What can you use them for?

This is from the Delmaine link I posted above......

Quick Ideas: Heat butter, Dijon mustard, green peppercorns and beef stock - reduce mixture to half, add cream and salt and pepper - this quick sauce is perfect with steak, seared salmon and potatoes.

Thank you so much 245sam. I hate to waste anything. That sounds nice, in fact may end up purchasing more.

Some might like to try these Strawberry and Pink or Green Peppercorn Sauce recipes (2 versions). Surprisingly, pink or green peppercorns are truly delicious with strawberries. I’m giving 2 versions, the second is less complicated and less ingredients, but the first one is divine.

Strawberry and Pink/Green Peppercorn Sauce (V1)
INGREDIENTS
500 gm strawberries, hulled and 1 cup diced, the rest sliced
1 Tablespoon water
¼ cup sugar
2 Tablespoons Brandy, Cognac, or Strawberry liqueur
1 Tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon concentrated pomegranate juice or molasses
1 teaspoon pink or green peppercorns, lightly crushed
Method:
Place the sugar in a small pot with 1 Tablespoon water. Stir to dissolve. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, and simmer until a deep caramel color. Watch carefully because mixture can burn easily. Remove from heat, and carefully pour in the Cognac and vinegar. Put back on low heat and swirl mixture to dissolve caramel. Remove from heat and stir in the pomegranate juice or the molasses, the peppercorns and the diced strawberries, and reheat over low heat for one minute. The sauce will be thick and syrupy.
Cool, and carefully stir in remaining strawberries. Serve over vanilla ice cream, panna cotta, or similar

Strawberry and Pink/Green Peppercorn Sauce (V2)
Makes about 1 and a half cups (use 2 Tablespoons per serve)

Ingredients (recipe can be halved)
500 gms hulled and quartered strawberries
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon lightly crushed pink (or green, if preferred) peppercorns

Method:
Put sugar and water into a pot, bring to boil and cook – without stirring until sugar dissolves. Use a wet pastry brush to brush down any crystals that form on the pot sides. Cook about 2-3 minutes or until sugar starts to caramelize and go golden-brown, swirling the pot occasionally (and carefully – hot sugar burns!)
Take pot off heat and cool 3 minutes. Add strawberries; cover and let stand 10 minutes or until strawberries are tender. Reheat over low heat until caramel is liquefied. Stir in peppercorns. Sauce will thicken as it stands, and can be blended at this stage but, as with the first version, the strawberry slices and peppercorns look gorgeous.
