Bakers - Do you use a Cake Mixer?

#Post
1

I’ve never used one in my life and I am a reasonably good baker - but am I missing out?
I do have one, unused and still in its box that was stored away as I never had room for it. But after a recent shift I could find room if I had to and if it was worth keeping.

I have one probably got it too late in life as I had gotten used to doing baking differently. Consequently it is pushed away in the back of a cupboard, I do however drag it out if and when I make a pavlova.

I bought one once, made a pav that first xmas, then it just sat in the cupboard, so I gave it away to my daughter, I just use an electric hand beater or a wooden spoon.

Yep, I find I use a cake mixer often. Wouldn’t like to be without it.

me neither.
I've got an old Kenwood, it must be at least 45 yrs old ...I was given it & it hasn't missed a beat ;o) in all of those years.

I just bought a secondhand mixer (Sunbeam Mixmaster MX001) for $20, as I wanted to try baking again, for the first time in over 40 years. The last time I did some I was in my early teens, but I was quite successful at it back then. I made some chocolate cookies, by hand recently, and since they worked out pretty well, I figured I'd get a mixer so it wouldn't take as much time.

P.S. I'm a bloke!

Yes. It sits on the bench permanently so easy to use. I think if it was in a cupboard I wouldn't be bothered getting it out half the time. I make cakes and bread with it. (For a pav I always use my electric hand held - the shape of the blades means a stiffer meringue).

I finally wore out my old Kenwood mixer, I bought 2nd hand 30 years ago. Just bought another second hand one with all the bells and whistles. Now I dont have the energy to bake often, but hopefully when I retire I will get back into using it.

I am an avid baker but only use an electric hand mixer. I do have my mum's old kenwood, but it is SO heavy to get in and out of the cupboard and bench space prevents me having it out the whole time.

I have a Kitchenaid, and buying it was one of my better decisions. It is huge, so it sits on my bench permanently.

I just brought a Kitchenaid this year after 30 years of mixing with a fork. I can say I absolutely love it, and saves my arms from getting tired! It mixes the butter and sugar so well, plus while it is beating you can measure out your other ingredients and clean up all at the same time. Definitely recommend you try using it more often, I don’t think you would be disappointed.

Got my Kenwood in 1962, still going strong after getting a new cord fitted last year (perished with age) .When it gives up I will stop baking. Got my Sunbeam stainless electric frypan the same year and still use that, makes the best pikelets.

I use a spoon mostly. Occasionally a hand held mixer

I started making cakes because I was buying bananas and various fruits that come in a box lot for $2 , plus I have chooks so eggs are to be used so I found a Kenwood mixer on here $35 and it’s a breeze, as the bowl and all the fittings and attachments go in the dishwasher
