Slow cooker beef - failure !

1 | Spent $20 on a piece of topside, followed instructions on packet mix and 8 hours later I have a pot full of long beef strands in sauce. Sauce and potatoes are yummy but beef is stringy and not pleasant to look at or eat. How can I salvage it please ? pauline999 - 2019-10-12 20:27:00 |
2 | 8 hours - did you use "low" or "high"? I have no problem, 7 hours on low, meat perfect to cut. Edited by autumnwinds at 8:43 pm, Sat 12 Oct autumnwinds - 2019-10-12 20:42:00 |
3 | Is it cooked or what? If so just shut your eyes and eat it, and better luck next time. As autumnwinds says learn your cookers temperature. Practice makes perfect rainrain1 - 2019-10-12 20:59:00 |
4 | ‘Pulled beef’ or pork is pretty stringy. The connective tissue has dissolved and you are left with the muscle fibres. But put in a bun with the gravy - yum! cosimo - 2019-10-12 23:07:00 |
5 | 8 hours on low. I will buy buns today. Sgh. pauline999 - 2019-10-13 06:24:00 |

You might be right....I put mine in the sunbeam crockpot for 6 hours on high as I was a bit late, and it was just cooked. I would say it was probably around 2kg as it only just fitted. I found a delicious balsamic vinegar marinade recipe which is yum. benthecat - 2019-10-16 21:02:00 |
10 | A question for ffloss. What an excellent idea. Do you add any Maggi or other ingredient to the bag, I am planning a sheep shank meal and would love to try you "no cleaning" idea. Thanks spencer26 - 2019-10-17 11:46:00 |
11 | Hi Spencer 26 - I add nothing else but you could. Good luck.???? ffloss - 2019-10-17 20:34:00 |

Personally wouldn't do sheep shank that way... the fatty outer will make the shank swim in fat and taste through the whole thing.. karlymouse - 2019-10-17 22:39:00 |
