Hi - has anyone ever used one of these Roti makers please? I would be interested in your opinion. Thanks :-)

Not rated high when you look at reviews. Why not just use two heavy plates or pans to flatten it, then cook on the stovetop?

Roti are easy enough to roll out into rounds and then cook in fry pan. I do them in my electric frypan. I think the makers are rather pricey as they not versitile and just do one job.

YES- I have 2 similar Roti Makers.
The smaller one (about 17cm) tha has no Thermostat and can get too hot, but I just switch it off for 20 or so seconds to control the cooking heat.
The larger one (about 26 cm) has a thermostat and works fine BUT I cannot get it to press out larger Roti's so I just use it to cook large hand rolled Tortillas, Pizza Bases and to heat Roti Canai (purchase frozen - I don't think I will live long enough to perfect making these)
I have made hundreds and have found it requires the right texture of dough and resting time. i have persevered and now make an acceptable product.
Watch ALL the demos on YouTube and persevere. I make heaps and freeze some for later ( just thaw and heat for a few seconds in the Microwave)

Thank you everyone for your comments. I am really keen but all the reviews seem to suggest the quality of the product is not so great. I guess I might just have to stick to rolling them out by hand. One day I'll make a round one LOL :-)

Practice make perfect as I tell my kids. I have been making rotis since I was a child. Once you find your rhythm for making them round, you get them perfect all the time. Have a look at youtube videos. You will get the idea.
