1 | Hi Just interested in finding actual passenger list for the above arrival Look to find family of James Linton (Luiton) miss spelling. On the arrival of above ship was James Linton eldest son of the late James Linton one of the pioneers of Palmerston North. (The Oronsay arrived Wellington 29 Dec 1934 ) as above did wife and children arrive as well is there wife and children? Thanks Anne Edited by anne1955 at 7:23 pm, Sun 21 Jul anne1955 - 2019-07-21 19:22:00 |
2 | The passenger list is on Family Search (free to register) https://www.familysearch.org/search/. There's a 60 yr old J Linton (solicitor) travelling on the 'Oronsay' with 58 yr old A Linton (domestic duties). Presumably husband and wife. No children listed with them but if they had married daughters, they'd be travelling under a different surname. ed65 - 2019-07-21 20:01:00 |
3 | Many Thanks my very old computer stall's cough's and spits at family search I have tried the lite version and sometimes I am lucky sometimes no sadly Though information to me is interesting. James Linton snr was here as a pioneer of Palmerston North so arrival of son James in 1934 at the age of 60 is jolly old??? I have a Sarah Ann/e Linton connected to a Kibblewhite but that then leaves her out... A Archibald Munro Linton in the 1936 1997 time period. But sadly eyes and time of night I'll leave this for the now but thanks ed65 anne1955 - 2019-07-21 20:51:00 |

6 | The info in those links might steer you to find the info you want. They came back from Australia, so sailed from there to here. They also left NZ to go there so those shipping lists will hold info about them that the list for the Oronsay so much later won't. Check BDM for births and marriages of the right era in NZ, and do searches in Australia to find out what was happening in the family during those years. Finding James snr's kids here makes it potentially easier to find them in Australia, too. morticia - 2019-07-22 10:35:00 |
