Yeah...I noticed that too...tasteless and sort of watery.

Ones I've seen are picked too early and waste of time buying. Not cheap either considering there's meant to be huge crops.

Exactly like the cheap and perfectly formed hothouse tomatoes that have been foisted onto the consuming public for decades now without complaint.

I've started buying avocados from The Avo Tree in Katikati. Our first box have started to ripen and so far the avos have been pretty good, a tiny bit watery as you would expect so early in the season but with a good flavour and in perfect condition. https://www.theavotree.co.nz/

I get mine from the local market and sometimes, off a friend who has a tree and they actually aren't too bad. As you say, because it is just the start of the season, there is a slight lessening in taste/flavour. However, I get round that by combining with small amounts of tasty flavourful foods such as slivers of my luscious preserved limes.

I love (not really) how growers say that due to ideal weather that their crops are ready earlier than usual which is what avocado growers are saying at the moment. It's just like a pumpkin grower saying that at the end of last year as he rushed his pumpkins to market before most other growers. I bought a pumpkin at that time - one of the worst I've ever bought - tasteless watery thing that it was.

Just back from Sydney and enjoyed perfectly ripe, flawless avocados which were also cheap! Realise that we hardly had any here last season as they were so expensive and not as nice as usual.
