On irishgenealogy.ie Civil record Feb 1898 marriage of John Graham and Ellen Bradshaw in Belfast, can anyone figure out his occupation, and the father's forenames? Doing a pedigree for their daughter Mary Graham, born 3 months after the marriage. At time of her birth father's occupation is Sexton of Clifton park Church.
Thanks

Witness looks like possibly Thos Graham. With considerable imagination I can see a possible Wm Graham, but ......
Could you work out the name of the father-in-law?

Hi stock, just found another child Margaret born 1901, and he is a power loom tenter. I agree father Wm Graham, maybe Edwd Bradshaw?
Also cannot find family in census?

Hi stock, have found him in 1911 census so now have a year of birth for him. Wife not there so presumably deceased. Hoping I now have some years of birth to keep going back.

Hmm, Ellen died 1909 aged 35. Found them in Pollard Street in 1901 and she is aged 29. So born 1873+/-1. Only birth for Ellen Bradshaw with father's occupation carpenter is 1871 in Ballymena, father Thomas. Do you think it looks like a Thomas?
I like the Ballymena as that is where a lot of the DNA matches are going back to, but not too sure about Thomas as transcript .

www.ancestryireland.com has a range of possibilities.
Seven John (no second name) Graham marriages 1898. Father's names: John (3), William (3), James (1).

But so much for that. An equivalent exercise for Ellen Bradshaw 1898 has 2 results and both fathers are Thomas! Don't see a Thomas in the scrawl.

I see a more advanced search option:
The search 1898 on John Graham spouse Ellen Bradshaw gives the father as William.
The search 1898 on Ellen Bradshaw spouse John Graham gives the father as Thomas!

These are the results of transcriptions, but I don't see Thomas as an option in the image.

Yeah it is a bit strange, I think I will go with the Thomas at this stage and see if I can get back another generation.
The whole exercise is to complete a fuller pedigree for a DNA match to my friend, trying to tie it back to common ancestor. Of course need to do this pedigree work for lots of matches. I think this is as good as I will get so will work with this. The Ballymena is a definite plus (just hope it is not swaying me).
Thanks for the extra search, will have to try out that site.
cheers Kathy
