1 | Hi, hoping someone may be able to help me a little . I have ground to a halt as I can't afford to pay subscriptions to the various genealogy websites so hoping some kind person who has access may be able to help me. I am looking for any information on Peter Wilson born in 1791 in Pontefract, Yorkshire. He married Ann Bonner in Pontefract in 1812, their daughter Martha born in 1812 married John Wilcock in 1832. Any information on Peters parents would be most welcome ! Also, if anyone can find an actual address in Pontefract for John and Martha Wilcock, that would be fantastic. appletrees - 2019-04-25 19:46:00 |

8 | So here I was typing a big post , went to post the message and I'd been logged out :( Will try again... So John and Marthas son George Wilcock ( b.1843) married Elizabeth Collins (b.1846), they had 5 children before they emigrated to NZ. The children were Martha 1868,William w 1869?, John 1871, Lily A 1873, and Emma who was 2 when she, George and Elizabeth left the UK on board the Edwin Fox in 1875. Elizabeth gave birth while at sea and named her daughter Edwina Fox wilcock. George and Elizabeth had 4 more children after arriving in NZ. What I am trying to discover is what happened to the children they left behind in the UK ?! I have managed to find a marriage entry for the oldest child Martha but can't find the other children. Can anyone please help or point me in the right direction. I couldn't imagine moving overseas and leaving some of my children behind but maybe they had no choice :( Hope what I've written makes sense. appletrees - 2019-04-28 13:11:00 |

14 | The following day, the 27th March, Elizabeth Wilcock gave birth to George and Elizabeth's third child, who they called Edwina Fox Wilcock - after the ship. Manning described the conditions at the time as "wind blowing hard and sea rolling heavily, making it, with the cold weather, anything but pleasant." Not the ideal conditions for childbirth A piece I found. elaine231 - 2019-04-28 16:00:00 |
15 | Many thanks elaine231, I visited the Edwin Fox museum in Picton last year and got to see a photo I hadn't seen before, of Edwina Fox Wilcock as a middle-aged lady ! Very exciting. I will definitely check out the info you have found :) appletrees - 2019-04-28 16:22:00 |
