Tri tip steak - how to cook it?

#Post
1

going through our freezer yesterday I found a big piece (fat at one end, thinner at the other) of Tri Tip steak, but I've got no idea how to cook it.... can we slice it into steaks and fry it, or is it more for casseroles...etc..?

any advice would be helpful

Fast sear on the fat side and then slow bake, 110 for 4 - 6 hrs (depends on thickness)
I would do either a dry or wet rub, if wet baste every 30 minutes.
Best served with a peach chutney..................

I hadn't heard of this steak, so I googled...it says it's best cooked fast.
If you want a slow cook, to use a tri tip roast cut instead.

If you need to marinate it, it must be crappy......I'd slow cook it.
