Sunbeam Pie makers (4 pie size)

1 | Has anyone got one? Thinking of buying one and would be interested in the pros & cons, had a snack size one years ago but really didn't use it much. Have looked at the $29 Kmart one but the pie size is much to small even though it does 4 at a time. model-man - 2019-03-30 20:22:00 |

3 | Have had a lot of use out of the KMart one; it works as well as did the Sunbeam two pie maker when we had that. Great for using up left overs and making mini quiche and would replace it of it broke down. 10 | Have just bght my 2nd Zip piemaker from Briscoes half price sale. Belong to the k Mart Pie maker recipes on F/Bk , also helpful with hints. Have made pies of all sorts (today savoury mince & apple ones) muffins, scrolls. Easy to make litle cakes with the Countdown plain pack cakemix. 25 | I actually start my pies off with a cold piemaker then it heats up. Filling is always cold. today made cup cakes, no paper cases, all good other day made lambingtons, made the cup cakes, cooled, rolled in half set jelly then rolled in coconut. Have frozen them when needed will cut in half & cream. Easy pesy! Alway use C/Down puff pastry sheets, but have used wraps or bread. Have put crustless bread in, piece of bacon optional & egg. Thought the pies turned out ok but not impressed with the store-bought pastry, one lot was Edmonds (I expected that to be really good) and the other was Countdown's SR brand - very little flavor, I might as well have been eating thin cardboard. 28 | I have had the Sunbeam 2 pie maker since the 80's. My trick is to roll out and cut our the pastry "rounds" and pop them in a tupperware container with the blue plastic you get from pastry packets in between. They then take less than five minutes to defrost on the bench when you are ready to cook. I precook the fillings (favourite is chicken mushroom and ham) in containers the same size as servings for 2 or four of us, usually 2 each. These too are very quick to defrost. You can also use left over casserole, bacon and egg etc. I have a small benchtop oven on the bench that has a "keep warm" setting. I just bung an enamal dish in there, make the pies and keep them warm in there. I can make up enough for four in the same amount of time as cooking veges to go with them so its a very quick meal for us.
