Mutton mince

#Post

Okay, I don't mind the smell of mutton cooking.
Definitely like the taste.

Our son had some mince cooking in his flat and now the flatmates don't want him to cook any more again, because of the smell.
They ate it, just don't like it cooking.

Any ideas of how to get around this problem.
They haven't got a BBQ, thought of that.

Start by sauteing the onion, then add the mince and immediately add herbs.
That gives it that yum italiany smell rather than just browning sheep.

Use it in something other than as 'just mince', like meatloaf, lasagne or even spag boll, where it gets cooked with everything else so you smell the whole meal rather than just the mutton.

Cheers, not me that worries about it.
Our son is now in Auckland and his flat mates (mostly girls) don't like the cooking smell.
Have passed on the tips.

make mince patties and freeze, or tell the flat mates to do the cooking.

Told him to make patties and do them on the BBQ, but they don't have one.
They all cook (take turns).

Make a quick curry, brown onions, mutton mince, spices, add tin tomato puree for quick curry, have on rice. Leftovers heat next day with naan bread.

New rule - complain about the smell and you don't get any.

I'd curry it, the mince that is.

Flatmates are obviously too spoilt. He cooks his mutton mince and then he freezes what he can't eat for next time for himself. Serves up the flatties lentils in a curry. Mutton mince is the only mince we have here. So much nicer than beef mince.

Tried really hard, but the wife fought back, so I decided not to curry her

Yeah, get it into a good curry with some Masala paste and chilli. Flat might smell like some Indians have moved in, but it's mighty tasty. Or go all out Mexican with some beans and habanero chilli.

Either way, they wont know what mystery meat they eating.
