looking for old recipe

which is a small cake/ biscuit called Maori Kisses. I have lost the book it is in. The book was one of those school ones for fund raising. I would love to know which book it was as well as the recipe. Thanks for any help.

HI Poppy 69 - THis version of Maori Kisses from is Aunt Daisy Cookery Book No.5 issue.

2 heaped tablespoons butter - 4 tablespoons sugar - 1/2 cup chopped walnuts - 3/4 cup chopped dates - 1/4 cup preserved ginger - 1 cup flour - 1 tablespoon cocoa - 1 teaspoon baking powder - few drops vanilla essence - very little milk. Melt butter, add sugar, milk & cocoa, add sieved flour, and baking powder, and fruits/ginger. Make into small teaspoon sized balls, cook on a cold tray neither greased nor floured. Bake 10 to 15 minutes in moderate oven 375F. Join together when cold with vanilla butter icing or make bigger and ice seperately with Caramel Icing - 5 tablespoons brown sugar, 3 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons milk. Bring to the boil for 3 to 4 minutes. Beat till thick. Takes 10 to 20 minutes to beat.

2 ozs butter
1 tsp BP

1 cup dates chopped
1 egg
1 cup walnuts chopped
Cream butter sugar, then add egg. Beat well
Add dry ingred, then fruit.
Put in small lots on cold tray. Join with choc icing

I made these little cakes today, best to press them down slightly with your fingers before baking....

I remember that name. I think my mother used to make them. Thanks for the recipe peeps, I might give them a go.
