| My fav NZ one Is the Port Chalmers one in the 1948 otago centenary. I love the colours. But The FFqs are nice. My preference is imperf British commonwealth.... I love the deep colours used in some of the early Aussie states issues. moahunt - 2007-11-02 10:41:00 |

| Re # 2 - yes, I like the attractiveness of stamps, and the history they depict, but so many of the recent ones are so ugly, and issues released at the drop of a hat! eg: jaybee2003 - 2007-11-02 11:29:00 |
| Availability at Post Offices in NZ annoys me. Posting parcels/letters from around the world, I always ask for and select attractive stamps. When I try the same in NZ, very few Post Offices carry a range of stamps, or are able to make up the values in 'special issues'. It's most disappointing when you are sending to a collector overseas and your only option is a pile of everyday 45c stamps. jaybee2003 - 2007-11-02 11:34:00 |
| I don't actively collect stamps (I collect coins) But I do have a large stamp collection and should probably learn more about it. I was thinking about starting a thread similar to this so that I might find out more! metcalfj - 2007-11-02 13:12:00 |
| #6 jaybee Use any decimal issue from 1967 onwards still legal postage.I have acquired many New Zealand collections and 99% of the hinged decimal mint I use for postage and overseas collectors love them. Some dealers will sell bulk mint for postage especially from the 70's for under face value.Personally I find that the latest issues from the 90's onwards are boring ,too commercialised. rebel58 - 2007-11-02 19:00:00 |

| I guess there is a perception that the sheets themselves may some day hold some value (and in some cases they do). Similar to bank note collectors who keep sets of consecutive serial numbers, and even un-cut sheets of notes...... metcalfj - 2007-11-03 12:18:00 |

| Looking at 1898 5/- Mt Cook used stamps The cheaper fiscally ( ex a document)cancelled ones with a hole in,or signed with pen initials, or embossing,or stamp duties cancel,or a kings crown showing in the cancel are easier to spot. willy_hunt - 2007-11-17 10:14:00 |
