Hi Zoe Craft is my passion as well so good on you for starting up this thread! Pleased to hear you are using this time in your life to be creative. Have you always enjoyed a crafty hobby? I knit, sew and cross stitch mostly but have dabbled in so many other crafts over the years. I belong to a craft co-op in Christchurch so at least I can sell on rather than sore mountains of stuff in cupboards.

Hiya Zoe ... what kinds of crafts do you do? I love knitting, making greeting cards but my current obsession is polymer clay. Sign me up as another one that's passionate about anything crafty, so much so that I've often thought about opening a store. Purely for my own desires of course! not business-minded enough for that though. I'm sure we'd all love to hear what you do.

Nice wee bags jord37 We have someone making these for the Purple Patch here. Very popular! I am really juggling time these days to try something new. I am a full time family support worker and one of my mum's asked me to do a cardy & beanie for her wee boy so that's just about finished but in the meantime the things I have in the Patch are sold out and need to be replaced. I would really love to do a jersey for myself. Would be the first in a few years. I have to say that I waste a lot of weekend time on my new wee grandson who is 13 weeks today!

Crafts is my Passion Hi Zoe, maybe you have your good days and your not so good days. I can relate to that. I have always enjoyed creating things and it is frustrating when your fingers curl up just as you are into something that needs a steady hand but you leave it and go back when you can. Say hi anyway Zoe we want to make sure you are okay. Warm fuzzies.

Good morning everyone It's a lovely sunny morning here this morning. Such a shame I have to go to work, it's such an intrusion on my craft time! LOL.
I actually love my job 'cos part of it means I can teach crafty things to mums in their home.

Awesome Windy Day Hi Zoe and everyone else. Decided to wash my daughter's Lounge room curtains. There were only eight of them and it took me three hours to get them down, wash and dry them, then hang the nasty things back up again. My arms and fingers are aching, my back is shot but the curtains look great. Now I am going to sit and relax with a cuppa.Have a baby set I am knitting for my 10th grandchild( DUE IN DEC)my 3rd granddaughter. It is so cool to knit girlie things.

Hi makerealbany I hope your daughter is really, really appreciative if she wasn't there to help!!!!!

grizzly4 - 2007-08-22 08:54:00

Grizzly4 Yes she is grateful. She is pregnant with her first baby. Overseas at a conference at this time so I am trying to springclean on the nice days and knit on the lousy days. ha ha. Must rather sew for bub but we are renovating my cottage and machine is , well I am not sure which room it is in and I cannot push and shove all the darn furniture aside to find out. Ha Ha. Bit cold today so after my chores I might light the fire, watch a good movie and knit. I am really smiling as I type this. Have a great day everyone.

I am besotted with my 13 week old grandson and his 2 year old brother (step-grandson)!
Imagine having 10!!! Lucky woman, indeed.
These are my sons children and my daughter is in the awful sitauation of really struggling to have a baby. She has chronic endometriosis with other stuff going on as well. Didn't think she would get pregnant at all and the miscarried an ectopic pregnancy a month ago. I just wish I could fix it!

Big hugs to your girl Grizzly4 One of my girls is having the same probelm and every miscarriage is heartbreaking. She is also a midwife. I have 5 children hence my 10 mokopuna. They bring great joy to us all. We were at a Rugby League final to watch my 13 yr old grandson playing on Sat and I screamed myself hoarse. After his team won we had to race off to see the last 15 mins of his sister's soccer game. Her team won as well. We had a great weekend. I have just finished another little outfit for our forthcoming baby. I knitted it in Lashes and Spotlight's Parade. Very inexpensive but so soft and pretty. Wow I JUST LOOKED AT THE TIME. I am off to bed zzzzzz

There are some weird yarns out at the moment. I am a family support worker and one of the mums I am helping at the moment has asked me to knit a couple of jumpers for her 6 month old. She has bought Zhivago and Powder Puff to do them in. Takes a bit of getting used to, I must say and don't ever drop a stitch in the Powder Puff!!

grizzly4 - 2007-08-23 08:38:00
40

Powderpuff I know what you mean about this wool. I purcgased Paton's 1242 which has fantastic patterns for bubs knitted in Powderpuff and Feathers. My daughter prefered the sets I knitted in Spotlight's Parade and FEATHERS (Or Lashes) good substitute and much cheaper. Also softer and thicker.

evening all! Big Hello to ZOE! how are you doing?

woolshed3 - 2007-08-23 17:16:00

#39 ... I knitted my daughter a hood jacket in Powder Puff went I was just learning. It was a bit awkward not being normal yarn but it turned out lovely. Such a pity she's grown out of it! I 've never used Zhivago but I've seen it in the shop and it feels GORGEOUS. Soo soft!

bll - 2007-08-24 07:43:00
44

Maybe that's something you could add to your 'to do' lidt bll - another jacket for your daughter. LOL. I can't believe we've got another sunny morning today. Just have to do some sheets before I go to work to make the most of the weather! Working in the Purple Patch tomorrow morning and grandsons will be here Sunday so not a lot of housework going to be done this weekend.

grizzly4 - 2007-08-24 09:05:00

Morning Hi Zoe and everyone else. Off to Hamilton to pick up two grandsons for the weekend. Ages 17 and 3. So will after to fill in time until Polytech finishes for the day. Will whip into spotlight there as I need some more lemon Parade to finish another wee set. Ha just had a call from Aussi daughter in spotlight and has my lemon Parade. Great now I only have to go to the op-shops to get some buttons for Js Sean Sheep jacket to finish it. Got this wool at warehouse sale reduced from $4 to 50c a ball last year. cost $5 TO KNIT. I always manage to get cool old buttons from op-shops even if I have to buy an old garment. I always save buttons on everything. The cost of some buttons is astronomical!!!1

LMAO BAHAHAHAHAHA!!! grizzly4 are you kidding?? I've banned myself from clay for a few days until I can get the housework under control, and I have an adult jersey I'm working (SLOWLY) on. Working on the sleeves at the moment but still have the second half of the body to finish. After that I'm thinking I'll stick to little things like socks and hats and wotnot.

bll - 2007-08-24 15:09:00
48

makerealbany ... I hope you don't mind me asking but it sounds like you'd have a better idea than I do ... what's a good price for 'designer' buttons? I have made and sold a few sets but my pricing is a bit random. MIL has said I'm under-charging.

bll - 2007-08-24 15:14:00
49

bll27 Have paid $10 for a set of 4. $5 each for 6 for a jacket. It depends on the buyer I guess. It also depends on how much it costs to make the outfit . Sewing or knitting, patchwork, etc. There are heaps of cheap buttons around but I like to look for something unusual. I will keep an eye out for yours. What category do you list them under. The other day I was trying to find buttons for J's jacket. He is only 3 but I wanted something like the old wooden toggle type could not find a thing even in the op shops, darn it.
