Pattern For Good Face Masks?

#Post
1

Has anyone found a decent pattern for wired three layer face masks that don't smother the wearer please?
I have now purchased several cloth masks from various places and I can't stand them, too close to my mouth. I know you can purchase 3D frames, but I'd really like to see if I can find a decent pattern before I resort to buying more stuff.

This is the one I use for family members, blokes xxl, I make xl for me, and s for 4yr DgS https://www.japanesesewingbooks.com/2020/06/20/free-mask-pat

I don't make separate lining just cut 2 bits the szms

I like this pattern and you can just double the liners to make it a bit thicker:

And here is an instructional video I made on how to make it:

This mask is very easy to make. I cut an extra lining layer to have 3 layers rather than make it with the filter pocket.

Maybe that one is good, but probably easier to just sew three layers like inatiz says and bung in washing machine after use rather than removing filters all the time.

I found a good one on line which has a pocket for a removable filter. So not so thick with fabric.

I like this one. it's really simple but I recommend you cut the elastic to 6 inches rather than 7 and use an ear saver so it pulls tighter. This reduces the glasses fogging and keeps it comfortable.

Are you aware that material masks have a filtration factor of about N500? To be of any use at all, they need to be no more than N100 as these 'tricky' little virus particulates that our fellow citizens spew forth are around N120-180.

In other words, wearing a material mask amounts to deception as they are providing absolutely no protection to others.

This one is really good. It doesn't need a wire due to the way it is shaped and sits around the nose (I wear glasses and they don't fog when i'm wearing this style). It also provides a bit of an air space around the mouth so you don't feel a too jammed in. I use a middle layer of non woven polypropylene that is sewn in (got it from spotlight).

What’s the best fabric to use for the inner layer? I have been using quilting cotton for both the outer and inner layer with polypropylene in the middle. Breathing through it is fine but it is very hot so the inner layer rapidly ends up very damp.
