#Post

Thank goodness for spotlight and cheap acrylic lol

haha.... that's what I always think when I see the 'other' thread! I wasn't going to go to Spotlight till my daughter stopped in.... I wasn't going to buy any more yarn for the moment.... ah well so I increased my stash by a few more skeins... I will find a use for it lol!! (Not to mention the nice order on it's way from Deramores - ssshhhhhh).

Yep I agree, love being able to go to my stash, will need to start restocking soon though ;)

Well my New Year's resolution (aside from the usual ones: get more exercise, eat less, keep the house cleaner/tidier, weed the gardens more often etc - all of which won't last past the second week of January) is that I will not buy any more yarn until I've used up what I already have. That resolution might make it till the end of February, but probably not beyond then. Mind you, I could use a lot of yarn between now and then!

I have heaps of wool but I haven't spun it yet. I washed a load of raw wool today which is almost dry. I use it pretty quickly once I've spun it.

Couldn't agree more. I decided I wasn't going to buy any more wool for at least 6 months, but I'm going to Spotlight in the next day or so and I see Deramores have 15% off some yarn as well - oh dear, what is a gal to do, LOL.

You can't pull the wool over my eyes with this one!

Ahhh Deramores.... I was given a discount code to use too late for my order but may be handy to others...

KNITTER

should give 10% off anything not already discounted.
Hope it's still valid - if anyone tries it - maybe they can report back.

Deramores? What is this? should I even look lol/

Ive just finished Puss n Boots, hes on here already. and have knitted a duckling .
I love Jean Greenhowes patterns. Im going to knit a few duckling sets, mother father 2 ducklings and a duckling in an egg. For easter. But a friend wants a clown so Ill knit them at the same time. Wont get bored that way.

I got 200grm balls or fluoresant green and orange the other day. I reckon thats going to be hard on the eyes lol.

My sister in law spins her own wool. Shes a confirmed pure wool knitter and Im like arcylic for the toys.

Her 12 granddaughter has just finished her first project, a cardy for a baby for her teacher. I told her the other day when she is older she will realise how lucky she is , knowing how to knit.

Yes popeye333 go look at Deramores - lol. Very good service - I usually receive my parcels in 7-10 days. Often have discounts and when you receive your order there's generally a discount voucher for the next order - LOL.

That's wonderful that the 12 year old is learning to knit. There are so many young mums etc now who can't knit, it's such a shame. One of my great-nieces asked me to teach her when whe was aged 6 (I was that age when my mum taught me). Unfortunately she's a lefty and I didn't succeed in teaching her. She's now not interested but there's another one who seems to like crafty stuff and she's right-handed so I might have better luck with her!!

Been busy knitting lol... Have got another duckling done. Ready to stuff and put together. This time with a pink and white hat.

The parents are done in two strands of double knitting on 4mm needles, ohhh joy.. not. but then it has to be easier than 2 strands on 3mm needles which the Puss N Boots hat is done in.

Started tidying out my craft room today - have been procrastinating for 12 months! Found wool that I had forgotten I had bought!! Found other stuff as well - lol.

Lol Pats.. I did mine a while ago. Had it all in those big plastic bins, then when mum died I changed the room back into my craft/office. I need to make more room in the drawers I keep it all in tho. Cos its soo jammed in its not easy getting to what I want.

I reorganise my stash regularly - and always enjoy it! Patterns placed in L-shaped pockets are put with the yarn that suits. I know what I will be doing next long before I finish any current project.

nzmu - 2013-01-04 05:50:00
25

Gosh, I tried putting patterns to my wool stash so i knew what to do next. It was TOO organised for me! I like to finish a garment and drool over my wool pile then decide.deramores have another promotion. I just saw a pattern of a rabbit that I like but done with eyelash wool. Will have to look that up. Want to do a pink one for my daughters baby shower in early march. None of my other wool stash suits!! ;) What a shame....

I wonder if Eyelash wool is like the feathers, cos when yuo think about it, it describes it really.

Ive cleared out an extra drawer, Large scotch chest size. and have spread the wool out a bit. Also cranked up the wool winder to tidy up all the part balls etc.
Gathered toy patterns together. Its been a pleasant morning .

I have just arrived home to find my latest Deramores order... I will 'organize' that tomorrow. I placed the order on the 29th... so fast!

I am on the move, after 30 years here.
I have to get rid of some of my knitting wool.
This is not a happy thought.
However, is it worth advertising it on T/M.
Crucci, shephard, glen mist, etc.
What kind of price, does it sell for?

Hi jude, I see lots of those older brands on here so if it's clean and in good condition, it will probably sell. Can't advise pricing sorry, you could look through expired as well as current listings.

Errrr... did an order to deramores. I couldnt find the eyelash wool, but there is ' moments' and 'eskimos' that look similar. It will do the rabbits I want done. I will look thru your wool nzmu, I dont mind buying good wool that is not from a shop. Its called ;recycling'. Have fun everyone!!

Hi Coalrange... You will be right there. My cross stitch stash is well, cotton wise Huge. lol.
I havent the heart to admit to hubby that the glasses arent up to cross stitch at the mo. Hence me having "gone" off it for a while. But still good enough to knit.
I got the parts knitted for a father duck yesterday. Certainly alot bigger than the duckling. Knitting two strands of double knitting on 4,mm needles wasnt as bad as I thought it might be. Oh I have the hat to do this morning. But he will be complete by the end of the day.
Have a good day everyone

If you look in the top left hand corner of the page...think it is on any page....it tells you the currency displayed. Not sure if it automatically shows the correct currency for your country when you open the site or not - I didn't change the currency when I had a look.

I'm a lefty. My nana taught me (when i was 8years old) by sitting on her lap (facing away from her) and her arms coming around my waist. I held onto the knitting and wool as she knitted. Nana was a lefty too but taught me righthanded. For most things it doesn't matter if your right or left handed. I'm now 40 and have no-one to teach as i think i have left it too late to have kiddie :( And yes....I AM A WOOL HOARDER lol

Thank you.. it was in NZ Dollars.... heck that makes it even better, or worse lol.
Have to start boosting my listings so I can make room on the credit card... Ohh dear, I should not have learnt about that website. Jean Greenhowe books are half the price of them here. So even with postage it will be less.
Simply as a wise spending feature I assume the bigger the order the more value for money on the postage. lol
I shall tell myself that lol

My mum passed away last year and Dad gave me a box of mum's old knitting books as well as homespun wool... and guess what was in them.... Jean Greenhowe books. There are a few. I don't know how many she has produced but i was thinking of selling them. Maybe i should get the needles out again lol

LOL. Once you on the mailing list you get emails regularly with all the sales/discounts - it's fantastic. I have ordered so much from them over the last 18 months or so, it's not funny - and I keep ordering - LOL. For example an email today advertising 15% of all James C Brett yarn.

One thing I did find out last year - sometimes they have, I think it's 20% discount and for whatever reason, it's not available for those outside of England. The woman did explain at the time, but I couldn't get my head around it as it had to do with the postage, which didn't make sense to me as the buyer pays the postage. Anyway, 15% is pretty good.

Pats whats the postage like? I didnt go that far. but Im certainly very pleased with the prices on there.
I also like that fact that in the acrylic you can get 25grm balls for under $2. Cos with toys sometimes I dont need alot of each colour.

And for me, Spotlight is 45 mins away so $20 petrol for a trip up.

Deramores just makes sense. But then its rediculous that you can buy stuff from the other side of the world cheaper than you can 45 mins up the road.

I signed up for the emails and got 5% discount right from the start.

popeye333 - Off the top of my head I can't remember amounts I have paid but I don't think it was too horrendous. I guess the yarn/wool is somewhat cheaper as we don't pay Sales Tax because we are outside the European Union.

By the way, if you order over $100 worth - it's free postage - LOL.

That wouldn't be too hard to do. I've been known to spend over $130 in one order from Knitworld. (which i have to admit was this time last year and as YET have not touched that stash and have bought more since then )
